Marque de Riscal
Today we are going to learn and taste the all about one of the world’s most famous wine regions, La Rioja.
We will start our visit at the breath-taking winery of Marques de Riscal. This winery started its production in 1859 in the small village of El Ciego. In the year 2000 the heirs of the first marquis of Riscal decided to unify their family know-how with the future and turned the winery into a wine experience. First the hired Pritzker Award winning architect Frank O’Ghery to desing an amazing 5-star hotel and spa, and then the opened their home to show and teach “some” of their secrets about wine making and also to allow us to taste their wines.
We will learn more about wine at another winery called Vivanco, where they have the world’s largest museum dedicated to wine. We will learn about the wine production throught the centuries and visit an incredible art collection all related to wine. Starting from egyptian art to contemporary artists.
To round up the day, we will visit the capital of La Rioja, Logroño. We will see the great cathedral called “The Circular”, although it is rectangular. We will visit the famous street “Laurel” where we can have some tapas and wine. What a great way to finish a day.
